This BART Escalator Has Been Broken For Months Because Of A Pigeon!

A pigeon extended the closure of a BART escalator at the 24th Street Mission Station for 30 days when it decided to make a home in the escalator!

The escalator on the east side of the station was shut down in January for repairs. A few months later, the pigeon decided to make it a new home. The bird was nesting over two eggs atop a home of twigs and leaves. Apparently federal law required the crews to leave the budding bird family alone, halting construction.

Bird(s) are allowed to take up residence on the escalator until the eggs hatched and the baby birds were ready to leave the nest.

Monday, all of the birds flew away.
