When it comes to animal care during a natural disaster, Alameda County is ready. The county just purchased two 18-foot trailers that will serve as emergency animal shelters. Each comes stocked with 65 collapsible crates for cats and dogs, generators, microchip readers, leashes, muzzles, lots of food, pooper scoopers and equipment to help keep track of animals too.
The new rigs are provided by AKC Reunite, a program of the American Kennel Club.
