Dr. Cynthia Kudji Sylvester and Dr. Jasmine Kudji made national news after becoming the first mother-daughter duo to attend medical school at the same time at the same institution.
Now, as 2020 graduates, mother and daughter will continue together on their careers after both committing to residency programs for the Louisiana State University Health System.
Kudji Sylvester will join the staff at LSU Health Lafayette as a family medicine resident and Kudji is one of 11 incoming surgical residents at LSU Health New Orleans.
"That's why I think representation matters. It shows young people or even older people that, no, there's nothing inherently wrong with you, you're not less intelligent or less capable. You know, you can do it too."
