Here's How The Wildfires Get Their Names

Did you ever wonder how CalFire comes up with the names of the wildfires?

It’s usually named by the fire dispatcher, or the first commander on the scene. It’s often named after a geographic location or geographic feature like a valley, mountain, canyon or river. When there are multiple fires happening at the same time, and close together, it can get a bit tricky. Here’s a CalFire video that explains all that:
