COVID Forcing Older Poll Workers To Change Plans

Older Americans, especially retirees, have been the ones to take charge of polling places during elections. But because of COVID, that’s changing.

During a typical election, 58 percent of the poll workers are over 61, and 72 percent are over 70. Because older Americans have a higher risk of contracting COVID, they’re cancelling plans to work the polls. But the good news is, younger people are taking over.
