After two years, Hearst Castle on the Central Coast, also known as San Simeon, is reopening to tourists.

The attraction was first closed due to the pandemic. At the same time, heavy rains severely damaged the steep access road to the castle. Up until then, 850,000 tourists used that road every year. A 10-month, $13.7 million project restored the road.

The tourist attraction in San Luis Obispo County, once owned by newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst, has 115 rooms, Guest houses, pools, and 8 acres of gardens.

The castle will reopen May 11th, and reservations can be made starting March 31st.
