The wife of the late Alex Trebek, Jean Trebek, and Katie Couric's Stand Up to Cancer have launched The Alex Trebek Fund to accelerate medical research for pancreatic cancer.
The fund has already raised $1 million through a donation from Jean Trebek and the Estate of Barbara Hanania. The launch of the fund coincides with Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month in November.
Trebek, who hosted Jeopardy! for over 36 years, was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer in 2019 and passed away a year later. The fund aims to support scientists working to fight the disease, which has a low survival rate.
