San Francisco International Airport (SFO) will rename its international terminal after the late Senator Dianne Feinstein, following a campaign by the Dianne Feinstein 100-Plus Committee.

The committee, chaired by former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown, submitted a renaming application to the airport commission in November.

The commission found "compelling reasons to honor the nominee" and listed Feinstein's achievements, including negotiating a lease agreement with airlines that led to the construction of the airport's first international terminal.

Feinstein was the first woman to represent California in the Senate and the longest-serving woman there.
