Lionel Richie has spoken about the emotional experience of reliving the recording of "We Are the World" for the new Netflix documentary "The Greatest Night in Pop."
The new doc debuted last Friday at the Sundance Film Festival - and will arrive on Netflix January 29th.
Richie, who co-wrote the song with Michael Jackson, said that every segment of the journey made him cry, as it reminded him of the innocence and impact of the project.
He also expressed sadness that Jackson was not there to share the memories.
The documentary includes never-before-heard recordings of Richie and Jackson writing the iconic song, as well as interviews with other artists involved in the project.
