This Memorial Day weekend, San Francisco’s Mission District will transform into an enormous celebration pulsating with dancing, drumming, live music, brilliant costumes and delicious food when the 41st Annual Carnaval San Francisco two-day festival and grand parade returns to the area, May 25th & 26th.Themed “La Cultura Cura – Culture Heals,” the event brings traditions from Brazil, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Guatemala, West Africa and more to San Francisco with the intent to heal and build support systems for the community through the creation of culturally relevant art, music, dance and dialogue. The festival takes place Saturday and Sunday from 10am-6pm on Harrison Street between 16th and 24th streets.
