Teresa Johnston, Director of Sales at Home2 Suites by Hilton in D'Iberville, Mississippi, has come up with one of the best ideas! Using a hotel to foster homeless dogs.
Thanks to the program Fostering Hope, the hotel welcomes in one foster dog at a time and guests are allowed to play, walk, feed, and even babysit the dog during their stay at the hotel.
If a guest feels a connection to the dog, they can adopt it directly from the hotel. After the dog leaves with its new owner, the hotel gets its next one!
"[The guests] were missing home and they were missing animals. I thought, 'why can't we put the two together?'" Johnston told Insider.
Over 60 dogs have found a home since the program launched in October of 2018. Johnston hopes that this will encourage more hotels to do the same.
