After climbing to a record $5.46 in December, the average price of a dozen eggs has dropped all the way down to $1.26 – and it’s still got a way to go, experts say.
According to a report from market research firm Urner Barry, the wholesale price of a dozen eggs is expected to fall to $1 in the next few weeks – marking the lowest price in nearly two years.
Since December, the price of a dozen eggs has decreased by 78 percent, data reveals. “Prices have collapsed beyond the expectation of the industry at this point,” says Brian Moscogiuri, global trade strategist at Eggs Unlimited.
