The official "It Ends With Us' trailer featuring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni was released yesterday (May 16), and viewers already have a lot to say about the upcoming film.

Production kicked off in May 2023, and fans were quick to capture clips from set and comment on their distaste for the looks and fashion involved in the forthcoming project. Specifically, fan's of the book were not impressed with the casting and Lively's portrayal of main character, Lily Bloom in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's best-selling novel, "It Ends With Us."

Upon release of the trailer, Baldoni, who plays Ryle Kincaid, addressed criticism stating that he's not too bothered by what people have to say (per Entertainment Tonight).

"I understand when you love something so much, you know, social media is amazing in [the] way it gives fans a voice. And if it were not for the fans, we would not be making this movie. So let them talk. And I don't worry about that too much." Hoover also commented on the backlash noting that she didn't really describe the characters' fashion sense in the book.

"It Ends With Us" sheds light on breaking toxic cycles amid the trials of love and is a nod to Hoover's childhood and family situation. The creative shared an Instagram post ahead of filming in January 2023, praising her mother for "making very difficult decisions" when she was a child.

"I just want everyone to know how appreciative I am to my mother, who got us out of a scary situation when I was a little girl and brought us here to this house which doesn't look like much, but this house was full of love and joy. Thank you, Mom, for making that very difficult decision. This house holds nothing but wonderful memories for me. We are now discussing a movie that's made from a book that was loosely inspired by my mother. It's bittersweet. So many people have had to go through that. But to know that my mom's decision has helped so many people get out of that... I love you, Mom."

Fans can look forward to the release of the highly-anticipated film on August 9th! In the meantime read about the inspiration behind the newly-released trailer via: Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni Share Steamy Kiss In 'It Ends With Us' Trailer.
