Neighbors Raise $20K After Town Shuts Down Boy's Ice Cream Stand
- Neighbors in a Boston suburb came through in a big way to support a local child looking to raise money for his autistic brother's hockey team.
- 12-year-old Danny Doherty decided to set up a stand selling homemade ice cream. But he was shut down by town officials after someone made a complaint that he was violating the state food code.
- Undeterred, Danny hatched a new plan - give away the ice cream for free and solicit donations. He raised $1,000 in the first ten minutes. After a local radio station and local candy company got involved, support grew to more than $20,000.
- Did you ever set up a lemonade stand as a kid?
