A lucky find turned into an even luckier moment for a North Carolina man.

Jerry Hicks, a carpenter from Banner Elk, NC, spotted a $20 bill lying on the ground in the parking lot of a Speedway convenience store.

He picked it up, went inside, and used it to buy a $25 Extreme Cash scratch-off card - which turned out to be a million-dollar winner.

Hicks chose to take the lump sum payment of $600,000 and says he'll use it to retire. First, though, he said he'd take his family "straight to Golden Corral and eat everything they've got."
