Jeff Goldblum plays the Wizard in the upcoming Wicked film, which stars Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, but this wasn't the first time Goldblum met Grande — they actually met two decades ago, and Jeff didn't realize it.

During an appearance on "Today," Goldblum talked about his upcoming appearance in Wicked, and recalled meeting a very young Ariana while he was appearing in Broadway show, The Pillowman, many years ago. He remembered, "She reminded me halfway through. I was doing this play called Pillowman and she and her mom, Joan [Grande], came backstage. We took that picture, those two pictures, but I hadn't remembered that. She told me halfway through the shoot she said, 'We've met, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.' She's fantastic."

See Jeff with little Ariana Grande in the interview below.

Earlier in the interview, Jeff talked about being a part of the movie, saying, "I was thrilled about it. Oh my gosh. What a delicious thing. I was a [fan of] Wizard of Oz, the movie, and then this play, which we were talking about. I was, you know Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, I was a big fan early on. But then Jon M. Chu to direct this. And then the cast. Oh my gosh. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, just the two greats of all time, and just perfect for these parts. They give performances for the ages."
