A zoo in Denmark is asking the public to donate healthy unwanted pets like chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, and horses to feed its predators. The animals are euthanized by trained staff and used as food for animals like lions, tigers, and lynx. The zoo believes this practice mimics the natural food chain of the animals and provides a more natural diet. Donors of horses can receive a tax deduction if they meet certain criteria, including having a horse passport and not being treated for illness in the past 30 days. The zoo's deputy director stated that this practice has been in place for many years and is appreciated by guests and partners.
