DoorDash Inc has launched DoorDash Air, a new drone delivery service, following FAA certification. The company plans to develop its own drones through DoorDash Labs for commercial deployment. Initial operations will involve limited pilot programs with short-distance flights within line of sight, with plans for autonomous, longer-range deliveries pending additional FAA approval. DoorDash will integrate drones into its delivery network alongside human couriers and autonomous robots, using its Autonomous Delivery Platform to determine the best delivery method in real time.
