A Fountaingrove man is being called a hero after saving the lives of multiple people after a garbage truck carrying, ironically, burned debris that was being cleared out from the fire areas in the North Bay, lost its brakes and plowed through an intersection hitting nine different vehicles.
Larry Broderick had just gone through the intersection when all of a sudden he saw a fireball behind him and knew something terrible had happened.
Larry turned around and went back to see that the garbage truck had hit so many cars and he was able to help several passengers out of their cars and to safety.
Larry said that he has watched a lot of emergency TV shows and documentaries and his instincts just kicked in. He said he also remembered how important it is to delegate in an emergency situation so he started giving people directions and orders so more people were able to assist.
He pointed out that people nearby also jumped in to help.
Way to go Larry!
