There is a Bay Area city that used to be VERY affordable to live in, which is now more expensive to rent in than San Francisco!
That city, is San Ramon!
As a matter of fact, rent in San Ramon will cost you about $300 more per month than what you would pay in San Francisco!
One contributing factor is that San Ramon, being a suburb, is likely to rent more single-family homes, which will fetch higher rents than the studios and one bedrooms of San Francisco.
