Vacaville Police officers rushed to evacuate about sixty shelter animals threatened by the Nelson Fire in Solano County on Saturday.
Vacaville officers worked with the Humane Animal Services, Solano County SPCA staff, and other volunteers to save as many animals as they could fit into their cars.
Officials thought all animals had been rescued, but it turns out a few cats were mistakenly left behind.
Fortunately, the shelter was not burned, and those cats and all other animals survived. They are being cared for in various foster homes.
This video is intense and really gives us a newfound appreciation for all of the police and firefighters working so hard to keep us all safe!
