The website Niche recently released its 2018 rankings of the "Best Cities to Live in America," and the Bay Area is well-represented!
The rankings are calculated by a number of metrics, including "quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics, and access to amenities."
Each city is given a letter grade in the following categories: public schools, housing, "good for families," crime and safety, nightlife and diversity. The city is given an overall grade based on the subcategory scores.
Berkeley came in 3rd in the entire nation!
Berkeley received A+'s for public schools, nightlife and diversity subcategories, but received C+'s in housing and crime.
