For this week's Global Climate Action Summit, a 35-foot-high sculpture of a bear made from car hoods salvaged from junkyards is standing guard in front of the Ferry Plaza Building in San Francisco!
"Long View Polar Bear" by Santa Fe artist Don Kennell is a key public art piece for the summit today through Saturday (Sept. 12-15). It is meant to highlight the plight of polar bears, whose Arctic habitat is disappearing rapidly due to a changing climate.
The sculpture was built in the Black Rock Desert during this year's Burning Man Festival and then transported to San Francisco.
