Good news/bad news about the Millennium Tower in San Francisco, the building that started to lean as soon as it opened in 2009. The good news is that engineers have come up with a fix. The bad? It’ll cost upwards of 100 million dollars.
Contractors will sink new pilings 250 feet down to bedrock; 22 of them along Mission Street, and 30 along Fremont. The work will take a year and a half to complete. The tower leans fourteen inches, and has sunk eighteen inches…so far.
