Back-to-back storms are expected in the northern Sierra Nevada this weekend which will definitely impact traffic.
Drivers should plan ahead for sure. Friday morning and early Friday afternoon will likely be great times to head up.
By Friday night, the first of the storms, the weaker system, will be over the Sierra with snow levels expected to drop to 5,000 at pass level. And it will be windy!
On Saturday, snow flurries are forecast to be light and scattered offering another window for travel and for hitting the ski slopes.
The second system will slam into the region with more force and is expected to unleash moderate amounts of snow into Sunday evening.
Sunday morning might be doable but Monday will be your best bet if you can't make it up Friday morning.
