In case you’re keeping track…the SalesForce transit center in San Francisco is still closed. And we just hit the 100 day mark!
Just to put it in perspective, this thing took 8 years to build, cost $2.2 BILLION dollars and was only open for 44 days before it had to close because workers found cracks in a the steel beams.
In summary, crews used a drill instead of a special torch to create holes in the beams that they needed for welding and the drilling and that's what caused the cracks.
They have every intention of reopening it but say that it is currently closed “indefinitely”.
