The Contra Costa Board of Supervisors voted to install video cameras – two dozen of them - along the Highway 4 corridor. They’ll be used to read license plates as people drive by. If the camera reads the plate of a known criminal with a warrant out for their arrest, they can track the car, and police can eventually arrest the driver.
Authorities have already solved burglaries and other crimes using the cameras.
