This is harbor seal pup season. This is about the time we always hear from the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito warning us to stay away from the seal pups if you see them on our beaches. If you see the pups alone, that usually means mom’s in the water looking for food, but she can still see you. If you get too close to the pup, the mother might abandon it. You need to stay at least 50 yards away so that won’t happen.
In recent years people have been getting too close to take selfies.
You need to keep your dog away as well.
