The Bay Area’s Metropolitan Transportation Commission released plans showing that it’s feasible to build a path attached to the western span of the Bay Bridge for bicycles and pedestrians.
The project will cost around $300 million but the MTC says it’s an investment worth making to improve the commute to and from the city.
As we know, BART is at capacity. The ferries are always packed. AC Transit is packed and the Bay Bridge is ALWAYS crowded and a bike path would for sure help get a few cars off of the road!
The downside in all of this? Even if they do secure the money for the bike path on the Bay Bridge, the project would likely take up to 10 years to build, start to finish once they secure the funding.
