After 45 Years, Beach Blanket Babylon Is Coming To A Close.

After 45 years, a San Francisco institution, Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon announced they are coming to a close.

The last performance will be on December 31, 2019. 

The musical spoof of pop and political culture has been running since 1974 at North Beach's Club Fugazi.

The show is internationally known for its extravagant costumes and outrageous hats. 

The music revue known for its creative costumes, parodied hit songs, huge and outrageous headpieces, one-bit liners and spoofs of everything from politics to celebrities is the product of late creator Steve Silver.

Beach Blanket Babylon features outrageous hats, like the iconic San Francisco Skyline Hat, which is 14 feet tall, 9 feet wide, 3 feet deep and weighs more than 250 pounds.
