On this, the 30th anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake, UC Berkeley announced the release of the MyShake app. It was developed by Berkeley and CalTech scientists, and it’s available today for the first time for iOS and Android. The idea behind the app is to warn you that a quake is on the way. It doesn’t give you A LOT of time….about 20 seconds. But 20 seconds just might be enough time for you to duck and cover.
