You’d think that shelter in place would have put the last remaining Blockbuster Video store out of business for good.
Nope!
In fact, the Blockbuster in Bend, Oregon is thriving, though they’re doing business a little differently due to the pandemic. They ask that their customers call ahead of time to order a movie. Then an employee will disinfect the movie’s box, put it a zip lock bag, and meet the customer at the curb for pickup.
The store’s manager hopes to soon be able to open the store back up so movie lovers can browse the aisles. When that happens, the aisles will be one-way, as they are in many grocery stores.
One of the reasons for Blockbuster’s success is that fact that video streaming isn’t available to many of Bend’s residents.
