Sometimes you just wonder what people are thinking.
There’s a growing trend happening during the shelter in place…..people ordering take-out food, and not showing up at the restaurant to pick up their order.
This is so wrong on a couple of levels.
Much of the time the food is paid for in advance. But many times it’s not. This creates a huge hardship for the restaurants and their employees. These establishments are trying hard to serve their communities AND pay their staffs. It’s more than just not showing up for a reservation. The staff puts in the time to prep, and the restaurant fronts the costs of the ingredients. Then there’s the wasted food when so many people are hungry these days. Some of the larger chain restaurants donate the food, and absorb the costs. Smaller restaurants and cafes don’t have that luxury. It’s understood that things happen, or emergencies come up that might prevent a diner from picking up their order. The right thing to do would be to go back the next day and pay.
Would you ever???
