Last week the UC Board of Regents voted to make SAT or ACT test scores optional for admission to any of the campuses of the UC System. The vote was unanimous, and the new policy will take effect for students wishing to be admitted in the fall of 2021 or 2022.Students can still take the tests, and submit them to be considered for admission, but won’t be penalized if they decide not to take the tests.
In 2023 and 2024 students will only submit scores for course-placement purposes, or for scholarship eligibility.
The UC system already dropped the test requirements for students applying for the fall of 2021 because of disruptions caused by the pandemic.
