Would you believe one of the COVID-19 side effects is…..a coin shortage?
The pandemic has changed lots of things in our lives, including the way we spend our money. Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters are becoming hard to find because customers now prefer to pay using debit or credit cards. On top of that, the Department of the Treasury minted fewer coins so far this year in order to protect its employees.
Are coins safe? The World Health Organization says there isn’t enough evidence yet to prove or disprove that COVID-19 can be spread through coins or bills.
