This will come as good news for those of us who’ve been needing the care of a hair stylist since the pandemic began. Governor Newsom has established new guidelines for hair and nail salons, barbershops and other personal services. It’s now OK to have these services performed outside.
The new guidelines will allow these personal services to be performed outside, as long as they’re performed under a tent, canopy, or other sun shelter, as long as no more than one side is closed. Other personal services like facials, waxing, and massage therapy can be performed outdoors as long as the same safety measures are met.
Electrology, tattooing and piercing are not permitted outside because “they are invasive procedures that require a controlled hygienic environment to be performed safely” according to the guidelines.
