The 2020 Olympic Opening Ceremony was supposed to be held tonight in Tokyo. But Covid-19 put a quick stop to that. The games have been postponed until next year.
Last night Olympic organizers held “one year to go” festivities that are usually, well, pretty festive. Instead they showed a 15 minute video promoting next year’s opening…….a video that nobody saw. They also teased the fact that the Olympic flame arrived in Tokyo this past March, but its exact location remains a secret.
The new date for the opening ceremony is July 23, 2021. If the pandemic is still changing so many plans, the games will be cancelled outright.
