It was sad news we all received over the weekend. Regin Philbin passed away a month shy of his 89th birthday. Natural causes. He spent 60 years of his life entertaining all of us, which by most definitions, would qualify as a full life.
He began his career as a Tonight Show usher at the Tonight's NBC studio in New York. He was nominated for 37 Emmy Awards throughout his long career, and won six. He won a few of those Emmys while hosting “Live with Regis’, “Live with Kathy Lee” then hosting the morning show with Kelly Ripa.
He was a mainstay on David Letterman’s nighttime talk shows, appearing hundreds of times. Letterman perhaps offering the most moving tribute to his friend on Twitter: "In the same category as Carson. Superlative... When he retired I lost interest in television. I love him"
Regis appeared with David Letterman hundreds of times. Here's one of our favorite Philbin/Letterman moments.....just days after 9/11.
Jack & Carolyn talked about Regis' legacy on the Morning Breeze. Listen here:
