We've told you many times about Breeze listener Lori Campbell who is a third grade teacher at Lorenzo Manor Elementary School in Hayward. She's been teaching for 15 years and like all teachers in the Bay Area, she is sheltering in place and wanted to help her students during the pandemic.
Lori received her tax refund and needed a root canal but with her dentist's office being closed due to COVID, she wondered if there was a way that she could put that $2000 that she had held aside for her root canal toward a greater cause. She then took the money and went grocery shopping for her students, delivering food to their homes one by one.
People started hearing about what Lori was doing and they started asking her if they could Venmo her money so she could keep shopping and keep delivering!
Then our wonderful Breeze listeners got on board and started not only helping by donating money, but by helping Lori make those deliveries!
As of July 29, 2020, Lori has collected over $18,000 in donations for food!

Not even a month ago, Dr. Dennis Prat DDS at The Dental Touch in Oakland heard Lori's story on The Morning Breeze and called Carolyn and Jack. He loved what Lori was doing for her students and the community and offered to do her root canal for FREE! Lori went to see him, had the procedure and has referred several friends to Dr. Prat after that!
Just when you thought this story couldn't get any better, Lori called the Morning Breeze today to tell us that she was able to connect with Laurie and Graham Beck, who Lori met at church, who offered to donate a 2005 VW Jetta that they just had a new engine put in!
Lori graciously accepted Laurie and Graham Beck's offer and surprised the family of one of her third grade students with the new car!
While these photos are amazing, to hear Lori tell Jack Kulp and Carolyn McArdle the story, is really amazing! Listen to their conversation below!
