If you live in San Mateo County, and you’re in the habit of not wearing a mask, it could cost you.
The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors just adopted an ordinance allowing businesses and individuals to be fined for violating health orders, like not wearing a mask in public.
For individuals, the fines start at $100, and can go up to $500. For businesses it can range from $250 to $3000 per violation, depending on the severity of the health risk.
Napa, Contra Costa, and Marin counties already have fines in place.
