We all know how important it is to wash fruits and veggies before you eat them. Now, it’s more important than ever.
Because of all the soot and ash falling from the sky because of the wild fires, some of the produce coming from California farms might not be as clean as usual, and farmers don’t have the labor to wash it as it comes off the fields. The reason for concern is because the ash isn’t just coming from burning vegetation, but burning homes as well. And that soot could be toxic.
As far as prices go, they’re stable now, but that could change. Some of the farmers near the fire areas are having trouble finding the labor needed to harvest the produce. Some of the fruits and vegetables are being left in the fields, and that means less is going to the market which could drive prices higher.
