Ventura resident Colleen Distin says the wallet fell through a hole in her purse when she caught a flick at the Majestic Ventura Theater back in 1975. "I remember calling the next day when I realized it was gone," she says. "They said no one found it, but to call back, which I did."
Fast-foward to last week, when Tom Stevens -- a construction worker helping to remodel the theater -- came across the wallet in a crawlspace. He posted a photo of the find on social media, asking, "Does anyone know Coleen Distin?" Within two hours, Distin responded. "I'm shaking; it's really wonderful," she says. "It says a lot about our society, that people are looking for a human story and something to feel good. I think there's so much other negative stuff that I think this is what touched people."
