California Lawmakers Working On $400 Gas Rebate For Each Resident
California lawmakers have proposed legislation that will help ease the pain residents are feeling at the pump.
The proposal, announced Thursday by Democratic lawmakers, seeks to give each resident a $400 rebate to help offset the high prices they're paying for gasoline. The money would come from the state's $9 billion budget surplus, according to the bill.
"Many Californians are ... looking to California’s leaders for help," says Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris. "We believe a rebate is the best approach to directly put money in people’s pockets."
Would $400 make up for all the extra money that each motorist has been spending on gas?
