I-80 Closed Due To Explosions In Contra Costa County

According to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, two storage tanks have exploded at the NuStar energy facility in Crockett, CA near Rodeo. The fires caused by the explosions have spread to nearby areas, forcing officials to shutdown I-80 and San Pablo Avenue in both directions, as well as the Carquinez Bridge.

There was a shelter in place for Crockett residences but was lifted around 3 p.m. According to Contra Costa Health Services, people near the site should be safe if they stay inside and "turn off all heaters, air conditioners, and fans" and "cover any cracks around doors or windows with tape or damp towels."
