A New Scam Targeting New Dog Owners In The Bay Area And Nationwide!

There is a scam that we want to warn you about that is becoming more and more popular, not only in the Bay Area, but in the nation.

Thousands and thousands of people love adopting pets (we do on the Morning Breeze as well!) and lately many people have been falling victim to a scam that is quite cruel.

The scam involves potential adopters of puppies looking online at websites that offer puppies. There are photos of these puppies and videos and all kinds of information and the prospective adopter, a.k.a., us, fall in love with this puppy, send our money in, only to find out, it's a scam and there is no dog!

It happened to a family in Fairfield who sent their $550 in and then they received an email saying "actually, you owe us $1100 more as insurance to ship the dog from another state."

Just to put it in perspective, there are about 37,000 reports to the FTC nationally when it comes to these puppy scams.

Jack and Carolyn talked about it on the air. Listen here:
