49ers Will Unveil Statues Of Dwight Clark And Joe Montana!

The 49ers announced they will honor former wide receiver Dwight Clark throughout the season after he died of ALS in June.

On October 21, 2018, two 350-pound statues of Clark and Joe Montana will be unveiled outside Levi’s Stadium. The statues will be placed 23 yards apart, which is the distance by which the two players were separated when Clark made his iconic catch to beat Dallas 28-27 in the NFC Championship Game in January 1982.

The 49ers also will wear “87” helmet decals throughout the season, and field bunting at Levi’s will pay tribute to Clark at all games in 2018. In addition, all proceeds from Clark-related merchandise currently in stock at the team store at Levi’s Stadium will be donated to the Golden Heart Fund, which assists the 49ers’ alumni in need.
