San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo was back on the job yesterday after a close call a couple of weeks ago.
On New Years Day he was riding his bike in the Alum Rock neighborhood when he was struck by an SUV. He flew over the handlebars, fractured his sternum and a vertebrae.
He credits his helmet for saving his life.
