Fire season here in California and even the Bay Area will be here before we know it and we've all heard the rumors that this year is supposed to be a bad year for fires.
California Governor Gavin Newsom yesterday did something a bit different. He declared a state of emergency in the state of California AHEAD of the fire season.
He wants fire crews out in the hills creating fire breaks so that, in the case of a fire, the breaks are already in place instead of firefighters having to wait until the fire is out of control to have to declare that state of emergency and create those breaks.
He pointed out that Contra Costa and Alameda County are exceptionally vulnerable when it comes to fires this season.
