DMV Simplifies Process To Get REAL ID!

If you got a new California REAL ID at the DMV but didn't provide two forms of residency you may be getting a letter from the DMV. Originally, residents only needed to provide one document to show proof of residency. But then Department of Homeland Security changed the requirements and now want two forms.

Now the DMV is trying to "fix" the problem. If you do happen to get a letter in the mail you just need to verify your address by checking the box to confirm that the mailing address is correct and send it back to the DMV in the prepaid envelope.

The DMV was supposed to send the letters out in April, but there have been delays.

Beginning in October 2020 you will need a California REAL ID if you want to use it to fly domestically. Your old driver's license won't work.

If you currently have a REAL ID with one form of residency, it is valid to drive in California. But at some point, you will have to provide that second form of residency.
