That Delivery Confirmation Text You Received Could be a Scam!

Officials are warning people of a scam that targets victims through text messages.

The scam involves sending out texts that look like delivery confirmations from Amazon or FedEx, according to online tech magazineHow to Geek. Clicking on the link takes victims to a bogus Amazon page that offers a "free" prize for taking a survey -- but getting the prize requires a credit card number for "shipping and handling," the site reports. It also automatically registers the victim for a service subscription that automatically bills the credit card $98.95 a month.

Police say the best way to avoid the scam is obvious: Don't click on the link.
